Hey There
I’m Akilah Thomas—a proud Houston native, serial entrepreneur, and financial strategist on a mission to make business more meaningful.
Over the years, I’ve built, scaled, and sold several businesses, but my purpose has always remained the same: to use business as a tool for transformation. I specialize in financial accounting for real estate investors, private equity firms, and small business owners. But more than that, I help people and companies align their money with their mission.
I believe profit should enrich everyone it touches—not just founders, shareholders, or the so-called “players that be.” That’s why I focus on shifting investment trends away from missionless returns and toward purpose-driven profits. Whether you’re an accredited investor, venture capitalist, or entrepreneur, I’m here to show you how capital can create lasting impact.
I’m also deeply committed to community. My passion for education equity, affordable housing, reentry reform, and youth development has led me to work alongside local and state officials, social enterprises, charter schools, and community development corporations. For my work, I’ve been honored with a proclamation from the City of Houston by the late Mayor Sylvester Turner and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.
My business foundation started at Sam Houston State University, but the real education came from navigating life’s challenges with hustle and hope. Along the way, I’ve developed a knack for spotting trends, forecasting profitable markets, and creating opportunities where others see obstacles.
If there’s one philosophy that guides everything I do, it’s this:
Business should build ecosystems—not just economies.
The world is changing. We need business models that speak to the whole person—not just the product. Let’s build something bigger than a bottom line. Let’s use our businesses and our money to change the world—together.
